ताज महल का निर्माण करवाने वाले बादशाह शाहजहां को उसके पुत्र औरंगजेब ने आगरा के किले में ही कैद रखा था यहीं से वो अपनी मृतक पत्‍नी की याद में बनवाए गए इस भवन को देखते थे। ऐसा कहा जाता है कि शाहजहां की मृत्‍यु मुस्‍म्‍मान बुर्ज में हुई थी और इस बुर्ज में संगमरमर का खूबसूरत छज्‍जा है।
